As convocation season comes to a close and undergraduates decide whether to launch into the work world, or to continue their studies, Jordan Wilcox, a PhD graduate of the University of Guelph, tells us how he has benefited from his choice to go to graduate school.
Jordan – who completed three degrees at U of G – now works at the William Osler Health System, and says the skills he gained through his PhD help him in his job every day. Whether it’s the ability to do research, getting comfortable with failure, or the learning that happens outside of the classroom, he says the skills gained during a doctoral degree are transferrable to almost any workplace.
Jordan’s advice for undergraduates interested in pursuing a master’s degree or PhD: Try to have a plan and find your passion.
